A report published in July 2011 by Aberdeen Group provides compelling evidence of the link between outplacement and employee engagement. In this study Aberdeen Group surveyed 73 organisations seeking to determine the impact of outplacement on business performance. Aberdeen found that two thirds of respondents offered or have offered outplacement. Importantly, 71% of respondents cited the need to maintain the company’s image and reputation and 63% the desire to improve engagement and retention as the top key drivers for providing outplacement services. Moreover, Aberdeen found that 48% of organisations that provide formal outplacement programs have greater than 60% of employees that are highly engaged compared with just 33% that don’t.
